Registration is now open for the CUNY AI Lab’s Fall 2026 workshop series. This semester, we’re offering two three-part workshop tracks during the first half of the term, followed by three drop-in co-working sessions where participants can get hands-on support for their own projects.
All workshops meet in the New Media Lab (Room 7388.01) at the CUNY Graduate Center and are open to Graduate Center affiliates.
Vibe Coding: Building with AI
The Vibe Coding series meets Tuesdays from 2:30 to 4:00 pm and takes participants from initial setup to a working project across three sessions. We’ll explore how AI-assisted coding tools can support the process of designing, prototyping, and developing digital projects—even for participants without extensive programming experience.
- September 22 — Vibe Coding I: Foundations
- September 29 — Vibe Coding II: Building a Prototype
- October 13 — Vibe Coding III: Bring Your Own Project Clinic
The Sandbox Series: Shaping AI Around Your Own Work
The Sandbox series meets Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:00 pm. It introduces the CUNY AI Lab Sandbox and explores how instructors and researchers can move beyond general-purpose AI chat toward custom models shaped around their own goals, materials, and workflows.
Across the three sessions, participants will build and test a custom configuration iteratively: starting with the Sandbox itself, adding their own materials through Knowledge Collections, and then extending what their model can do with Skills and Tools.
- September 17 — Getting Started with the CUNY AI Lab Sandbox
- October 1 — Building Custom Models with Knowledge Collections
- October 15 — Extending Custom Models with Skills & Tools
Co-working Sessions
We’ll also host three drop-in co-working sessions from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on October 29, November 17, and December 3.
Bring whatever you’re building and work alongside others, with CUNY AI Lab facilitators on hand for troubleshooting, feedback, experimentation, and help figuring out next steps. Participation in either workshop series is not required.
