Spring 2026 Workshop Series

A three-part series on building digital projects with AI, from command-line basics to independent prototyping.

Before You Register

  • Because the series is scaffolded, participants who are new to the command line and/or Git should plan to attend both the March 3 and March 10 workshops.
  • Each session is limited to 20 students and will be held in the New Media Lab (Room 7388.01).
  • Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop so they can set up a workflow on their own machine. Workstations in the New Media Lab are available upon request.
March 3, 4:00–5:30 pm

Foundations: AI, Command Line, and Version Control

This workshop covers the fundamentals of using AI tools to develop a digital project, including core AI concepts, setting up your environment, running commands in Terminal or PowerShell, and using Git to track project changes. We'll walk through a basic workflow and use AI to troubleshoot errors as we go.

March 10, 4:00–5:30 pm

Vibe-Coding Prototypes

This workshop focuses on using AI via the command line to build a small prototype. We'll model prompting, project design, and troubleshooting. After building the same starter project, participants will choose one feature to customize.

Prerequisite: Participation in the Foundations workshop, or prior familiarity with the command line and Git/GitHub.

March 24, 4:00–5:30 pm

BYOP (Bring Your Own Project) Build Clinic

This session offers structured time to build your own digital scholarly project, with facilitators available to support you. Ahead of the workshop, we'll collect a short description of what you're building and group participants by project type. During the session, each group will work with a facilitator to clarify goals, break work into small steps, and troubleshoot as issues come up.

Register for the Workshop Series

Space is limited to 20 participants per session. Sign up early to secure your spot.
